Never heard of it. But after viewing a recent episode of Growing a Greener World, I’ve done some research. And some planning.
Their website is an amazing place to see these kinds of beautiful formal gardens.
I called the Gift Shop there because the people working in a gift shop always know the low down on everything going on. Sandee not only answered my questions as to what is blooming and when, but in that Southern accent told me the best times of the year to visit the gardens.
So I’ve taken her up on it: it will be a short trip, Friday night red eye flight to Atlanta, sleep at the airport, rent a car Saturday morning, drive that hour north to Gibbs Gardens, spend the day viewing the Autumn color of their vast Japanese Maples, return that rental car at night, camp out in the airport yet again, and back to Denver on the cheap sunrise flight Sunday morning.
I’ll have missed these bright and vibrant beauties, but ah, Japanese Maples in Fall? Yup. I’m in. Look for my photos sometime after.
‘Til then, Google their site yourself. Look for details not only in color, but in shape and texture and artistic flair and architecture and….. Well, you get it.
Be Well, Do Good.
